Artist Statement:
Intuitions from Geometry: The Web of Life is an exhibit of artworks offering windows into a view of oneness of science and spirit. Often presented as antagonists, both approaches to understanding the natural world, when examined more closely, reveal the interconnectedness of all that is.
Light as a symbol of metaphysical reality is a part of many traditions of spirit and realms of science. In the paintings of this exhibit, images of lightenergy-forms symbolize the relationship of metaphysical and physical reality, and the relationship of the individual to the whole.
Continuing these themes, fiber arts works – lines of string attached to various supports, variously enhanced by objects from the natural world, and/or representational images – are constructed to symbolize the flow of connection, interdependence, and oneness between realms of being.
