Artist Statement:
As a museum worker, I have a deep and intimate history
with extraordinary works of art across cultures and time.
The connection is not only with the material piece, it
is also with the makers, often unknown, who touched and
formed the artifacts. Hand-worked resin surfaces hold images
of objects in suspended time to question historical collection
practices, the legitimacy of ownership, the complexities of
narratives, and the notion of belonging.
Artist Bio:
Jennifer Liston Munson is a Boston area artist who
was born in New York and grew up in Los Angeles. She
received an MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine
Arts at Tufts University and a BFA from Massachusetts
College of Art and Design. Jennifer studied painting at
Loughborough College of Art and Design in England.
She received a Traveling Scholar fellowship culminating
with a show at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
Her work is held in private and corporate collections.
Jennifer teaches at the SMFA at Tufts University
and has an exhibition design practice that focuses
on place-making for historic and contemporary art
objects in museums and galleries.
